Interests/Hobbies:

I have a number of hobbies, but the ones I like doing the most are reading, swimming and horse-riding. I also like traveling but unfortunately I just can’t afford it at the moment.

Why and how I use HelloTalk:

This app is just wonderful. If my English has gotten any better, it is because of the features this app offers. One feature is that you get to find native speakers who are interested in learning your own language and willing generously to help you learn theirs. Another feature is that you can send/receive voice messages, and make audio calls. You can also translate sentences and make corrections. It’s incredibly useful and fun. Not only can you improve your second language skills when chatting with native speakers, but sometimes you come across some exceptionally great, interesting, and knowledgable people that you will decide to have as real friends rather than only language partners. With that being said, I have mainly been using this app to polish my English and also hopefully make some new friends.

Yes. I have actually come across quite a few interesting people on this app (such as yourself, Mark!) and some other amazing friends.

I actually do not know if this next part really makes sense, but I have found it to be true from my experience. Out of all my friends from all countries I have come across, I believe that Americans by far, are incredibly kind, helpful and supportive. This is not an exaggeration or a lie. It’s just what I feel. The reason I find this interesting is that we are told otherwise by the media here. Most of us have been raised to believe that most Americans are normally unfriendly, unkind, and racist, but having come across a lot of Americans of HelloTalk, I can tell you that most Americans are very friendly, intellectual, open-minded and respectful people.

Occupation: I work as a computer technician and I study English. Studies: English Three places I recommend you visit or see in my city:

There are quite a number of interesting places one should visit in Saudi Arabia. One place is Jeddah city. Jeddah city is known for its amazing beaches and incredible weather. People from all over the country come to visit Jeddah on weekends and holidays. Jeddah has a lot of tourist attractions, amazing landscapes and beautiful scenery. It is definitely the first place you want to visit in Saudi Arabia.

Another city is Taif. Taif’s weather is far different from Jeddah. It is usually cold. Taif is famous for its incredibly huge mountains and five-star hotels. We call Taif the City of Monkeys. Monkeys are spread everywhere in Taif city. They are always around on mountains and on the side of the roads.

Finally, Makkah (Mecca). It’s the city that has the great grand holy mosque of Muslims. This place is where I normally find peace and calm. It’s like heaven to me. With its cold floor and nice smell, I feel like I’m on another planet. Also, seeing people pray and meditate fills me with hope and spirituality. This place with its peacefulness and tranquility is one of the places where a person can really feel rejuvenated.

Shawarma and falafel are the best local foods here.

Hopes and dreams for the future of the world:

I have many hopes and dreams for the future. ┬áPersonally, I hope I can pursue my English studies abroad, get a master’s degree and become a translator. ┬áI also want to get a well paying job and a beautiful, understanding wife with whom I can share my life and start a family.

Generally, I dream for a day when there will be no more wars, discrimination or killing in the name of religion. ┬áNo more starvation, poverty and disease caused by people’s greed, negligence and indifference. ┬áI dream for a day when there will be justice, unity and respect among all different cultures, religions and ethnic backgrounds. ┬áI hope I can live to see this dream of mine happen before my very eyes, because only then will this Earth be no different from heaven and all humans will live in peace and harmony.
